The Sitting Epidemic in Rosmalen

Do you suffer from lower back pain in Rosmalen? Lower back pain is a common complaint for people who sit for long periods of time. A majority of employees work from a desk and are unable to move around all day. Chiropractors at our chiropractic clinic in Rosmalen have often forced those who sit for long periods to get up and move around.

Recently, the Dutch Medical Association recognized this problem and implemented ways to change this problem for employees. They have recently urged employers to make alternative arrangements for employees so that they do not suffer from lower back pain from sitting.

A NATION OF HEAVY BEWARE

Unfortunately, prolonged sitting has caused many people to become obese and have health problems. There are too many activities that the average person takes part in that requires a meeting. Whether you are eating, watching television, working, playing a video game, driving a car, or surfing the Internet you probably sit.

Research at Duke University concluded that employees with a BMI of more than 40 have twice as many employees filed compensation claims. This study also concluded that their medical bills were 7 percent higher than those with a lower BMI, and they were likely to miss 13 times more work than the average non-obese worker.

TOOLS TO HELP COMBAT THE EQUIPPED EPIDEMIA in Rosmalen

The Dutch Heart Association is promoting a new device to combat obesity by preventing people from sitting for long periods. This device is a phone app called Hotseat and it was created by Fran Melmed. This app works by setting the device to sync with someone's work schedule. The app can be set to allow the user to spend several two-minute breaks during the day.

Another useful tool that has been implemented is called the treadmill to help lower back pain. The treadmill is part of the employees' workplace because they can continue to work on the treadmill while exercising. Other ways to reduce the risk of low back pain include walking after meals and parking further from your door at work.
